National Plan About Drugs

Sponsored by the Costa Rican Institute on Drugs, the Plan was the result of the work of state agencies (prevention-repression, capital management) for the combination of strategic forces in the drug problem in the country, mainly in the field of consumption, trafficking , Repression, treatment, control of capital, and allows us an important input to improve the existing resources in rehabilitation. . In 2008 for the first time the NGOs were represented by the Federation of Homes Saving the Alcoholic, which was a first approach to the conceptualization of the State to the problem of addiction. For the future, as we link the NGO treatment network to strengthen the quality of services, train staff, strengthen their models, and make the role of rehabilitation more visible, they will be able to formulate new formulations on the problem of Approach to addiction.

The growth of accreditations, formation of new treatment centers, cost evaluation, cost-benefit study, emergence of organizations in provinces, will allow over time, and especially in 2012 that begins the review of results of the plan 2008-2012, That the NGOs present ideas for development in line with a more pragmatic conception of the approach and treatment of the drug-dependent population, where state investment reaches its highest levels of effectiveness, in addition to valuing the particularities of Costa Rica in terms of the large number of Self-help groups in the national territory, and the implementation of electronic tools for supervision, development and networking, under a platform for continued development.

In the case of Salvando al Alcohólico Homes, the project of its Central Offices has been initiated to strengthen liaison commissions and legal matters, in order to support the infant homes in the provinces and to give the inhabitants better opportunities for recovery And reintegration into their own communities.
